MAC Week 1 Blog Post-Free Response iPad Review

Awesome. Love the review. Love the pro and con and that you couldn’t find any con. Oh yeah, and I’m also jealous that you got yours. I have my case and dock but have to wait until the end of the month for my 3g version to arrive. Wa-wah. Great job.
Ya I am excited for the 3g version! I have my iPhone jail broke, so I can use it as a WiFI hot spot!
Dr. Guido,
You’ve done a great job presenting the iPad. I also believe that the iPad is ideal for the classroom. I used to have a set of Palm handhelds in my classroom until the batteries died and the students really got into the apps available that I used. I had been thinking about the iTouch for the classroom. But with the iPad and the forthcoming applications it’s going to be incredible. With a set of iPads you could turn a classroom into a green room with very little paper and mostly digital. Also, they would cost half of what a laptop would cost. I believe down the road they will begin to turn some of the iLife products into iPad apps. Can you imagine garageband on the iPad. Great job!
Thanks Mark!
Mike, I have to say that I am one of those people who think the iPad is just a huge iTouch. I really don’t see the reason for having one if you have an iTouch. You cannot access ALL websites on it because it is not “yet” equipped to load websites that require Flash or Java, even FSO isn’t available to view! I agree that it is portable, easy to use, has a larger keypad and screen and more apps than an iTouch. However, I don’t forsee it replacing laptops since it cannot run every website available on the web. Once Apple makes their iPads capable to view most, if not all, websites, then I will be at the Apple store purchasing my first iPad.
Roxanne,
Have you used the iPad!?!?!?!
Its does so much more than the iPod touch. You can access more websites on the iPad than the Touch or the iPhone. They are using HTML 5 which may replace flash.
Unfortunately I am not sure why Full Sail (being how mac friendly they are) is not more iPhone and iPad friendly. I agree with you though that I don’t think the iPad can replace a laptop or PC for many people, but I definitely think there is a big market share that it can replace a Laptop or PC. If you just use social networks and word processing, or use your laptop for portable entertainment. This could be a viable solution. Also like I said these could replace textbooks, notebooks, and lockers! Thanks for sharing!

Week 2 – Response to Mike Ficara’s iPad review
I was originally an Apple doubter. What’s so great about Apple? Eventually, I could no longer ignore the incredible bells and whistles Apple always brought to its products. IPods: I thought these teenagers are so spoiled to get $200 portable music devices – we now have 7 iPods in my family of 4. iPhone – what’s all the hooplah about? Big deal. I’m now on my second iPhone and have converted my Blackberry husband to an iPhone lover (not to mention many others who have asked, and probably regretted doing so after the dissertation I gave them on the iPhone’s functionalities). iTouch – why would I spend that kind of money for my daughters when they already have iPods? Well, they each got an iTouch for Christmas. This had everything to do with the EMDTMS program that enlightened me in seeing how functional the iTouch can be in education. And now – the iPad. I remember when Steve Jobs announced this was coming. I was getting ready to turn in for the night and my words were something along the lines of, “That is the stupidest thing I have ever seen. Who the heck is going to buy that thing when they can get a laptop for the same price? ME!!!!!
I think I should learn to shut my mouth and open my mind. Apple is INCREDIBLE!!!! Three cheers for the iPad. I am eager to use one, and may even submit a proposal for an iPad lab for next school year. Great job, Mike, on your review.
Very interesting, “Doctor” Guido
Let me know if one falls off the truck! LOL
You got it all!
LOL I will see what I can do. Good to hear from you Dr. Siegel! No quotations needed!
